On Being a Country Girl
May 14, 2010 at 8:41 PM
It has become so obvious to me living in Folsom the past few months that I am a country girl. I won't be fully happy living in a city, probably ever. I love meadows full of grass and birds swooping in the air, lovely creeks and rivers and rocks of all colors. I want to surround myself with nature and can see that as my life progresses I will want to own larger and larger portions of it to enjoy and explore. I want ample land to have animals and grow vegetables and live the simple life. It won't ever get old to me, there is always something new to learn and enjoy when it comes to the natural world.
Let's Go Fly a Kite
May 10, 2010 at 8:18 PM All of the rain today is making me wish for the warm weather we had last week. J and I went to the park and flew a kite on my lunch break one day when it was sunny and warm with a litte bit of wind. It made the day feel like it wasn't a work day, but a nice relaxing Saturday.

Flutterby

The most amazing huge butterflies have been swarming in my area lately. There are black ones with orange (as pictured) and black ones with blue spots. I still think they should be called flutterbys instead of butterflies, and just read that in German they are called milchdieb or "milk-thief" because people used to believe they would steal butter and milk left out on counters. But my favorite name for them is their Portuguese name, barboleta. Whatever you call them, they are quite camera shy!

what's in a name Rainy Day Inspiration
Jan 30, 2010 at 8:07 PM Last weekend I had one of those days where nothing seemed inspiring and every project I picked up seemed to go wrong. I just felt off. I was impatient with sewing, didn't feel like cleaning and wasn't feeling creative enough to start a new project. Once there was a brief break in the rain I decided to take Bella out for a walk in order to find some inspiration.
