3/4 Year Update - New Year's Resolutions

The year is already almost 3/4 of the way through, and since I missed the half year check-in I decided to do another review of how I've been doing on my New Year's resolutions.

  • Turn off the lights when not in use. Just this morning I caught J turning of lights that I had left on. I do it without thinking and now he does it without thinking. Does training him to turn out my lights count?
  • Work on my handwriting, script and calligraphy specifically.
  • Shop at farmer's markets more. We definitely shop at the farmer's market more, once every two weeks with the other shopping.
  • Learn how to use my old Leica camera correctly.
  • Finish the quilt I started last year for my good friends' wedding before their 1 year anniversary. Well, I missed the first anniversary, perhaps in time for winter?
  • Finish all the books in my 'to read' pile. I've finished a couple books but I've also added more than a couple to my "to read" pile.
  • Walk Bella every morning. Bella gets some exercise every day, it's not necessarily a morning walk though.
  • Be more patient. Hmm.
  • Plant a successful garden. I have nine tomato plants that are thriving in the backyard – much better than last year!
  • Buy less in general, buy less items that are manufactured in other countries. I haven't been doing too well on this one, so I'm going to try to only buy things that I absolutely need for the next two months.
  • Make a few skirts and at least one dress before spring time. I made one skirt and am planning a second in corduroy for winter.
  • Cut down on my overall sugar intake. I am now eating 1 tablespoon in the morning compared to 4 last year! I've also been baking less sweet goodies.
  • Think about starting a ladies activity group where each meeting is hosted by someone who teaches a new skill/craft.
  • Get a physical checkup.
  • Balance my checkbook.
  • Take a multivitamin and calcium every day. I have been doing this every day along with fish oil for a month straight.
  • Take part in a craft fair as a vendor. My mom and I are going to have a booth at the Folsom Holiday Arts & Crafts Fair in November!
  • Stay in better touch with friends and send surprise packages or letters. I just sent out a little package to a friend, and sent some goodies to my pen-pal a few weeks ago.
  • Make a few new friends.
  • Learn how to screen print. I just borrowed some screen printing supplies from J's mom in order to learn.
  • Save up for and purchase a new computer.
  • Add a new item to Etsy every two weeks. I've added a few items in spurts, but I imagine I've fallen a bit short on this one. As the craft fair gets closer I'll be focusing more on making items specifically for that instead of Etsy.
  • Blog at least once a week. I've been doing pretty well on this one… until recently.
  • Do more silly creative things that make me happy. J and I currently have clouds made of batting and birds cut out of paper hung above the bed :-)
  • Travel more. A trip to San Luis Obispo a few weeks ago and a longer trip to Montana in the works for next summer.
  • Be brave.

And, of course, I've come up with a few more goals:

  • Learn how to weave.
  • Start running on a regular basis again.
  • Stretch every night.

I think I've been doing pretty good so far!!
